What the Freedom Convoy and Humans Gets Wrong about Rights Vs Responsibilities

Posted By Terry Vermeylen

The main argument from the Freedom Convoy is that truckers that have chosen not be vaccinated have to face more restrictions and quarantine periods. If truckers are vaccinated this does not apply. Therefore, the simplest solution would be to get vaccinated right? Wrong.

We are living in a world these days where there is thinking that personal rights and freedoms overrule responsibilities as a human being. And that is the core of the matter.

Rights Vs Responsibilities

My right and personal freedom overrule my responsibility towards other humans. A choice to remain unvaccinated means my freedom is more important than the possibility (or responsibility) of infecting others.

Rights are overruling Responsibilities.

Its disturbing that a fringe right element has decided that personal freedoms overrule being a responsible human being.

And of course, the news is jumping all over this because Canada is not known for extreme right-wing actions.

Rights Vs Responsibilities (towards your fellow humans) will always be at the core of a just, fair, and safe  society.

My right to remain unvaccinated

My right to bear arms

My right to make billions of dollars

My right to invade another country

My right to say whatever I want on social media

My right to create a blockade and infect people

Who helps us make sure we are responsible citizens? Governments? Yes.
