Project management isn’t just about overseeing tasks; it’s about harnessing a vital skill set to bring projects to fruition effectively and efficiently. Based on my own experiences, here’s why creating this app and learning this competency can be a game-changer:

1. Regular Check-ins: Establish consistent PM meetings, whether weekly or bi-weekly, with your SMEs and key stakeholders. The foundation of success lies in clear communication and unwavering commitment to action items.

2. Mastering Workshops: Become adept at facilitating business process mapping sessions for large groups. From initial Post-It note brainstorming to intricate departmental flows, you should be able to translate it all seamlessly into tools like Visio.

3. Embrace Testing & Documentation: Understand the nuances of documenting test phases, particularly in maintaining comprehensive defect logs.

4. Crafting Cut-over Plans: Skillfully design a detailed transition plan with your team to ensure smooth project turnovers.

5. Costing Techniques: Familiarize yourself with fundamental costing methods, honing your ability to estimate expenses and timelines for bespoke solutions beyond standard ones.

6. Ask the Right Questions: Equip yourself to ask probing questions, ensuring you gather precise insights from the right individuals to address intricate issues.

7. Digital Note-taking: Adapt to the digital age; learn to document insights on an iPad, review them consistently, and pinpoint the salient points.

8. Mastering Tools: Get a firm grip on tools like MS Project to craft Gantt charts and maintain an organized issue and risk log.

In conclusion, project management is an evolving discipline, and there’s always room to grow.
